Dave is one of our coaches who like most coaches got involved with Club when their own children were members at Otters and we have been lucky enough that we have retained some of these coaches despite their children going off to university and having their own families! Dave like all our volunteers comes to Club sometimes straight from work and volunteers to our Club giving something back to his community even after the longest of days.

Anyway you may or may not know that Dave has decided with one of his daughters, Beth who is daughter number 1 (Dave loves all his girls equally but with 4 daughters only Dave would get away with referring to them in numbers) so Dave and daughter number 1 are taking on one of the greatest challenges that I'm aware of and on the 16th October they are travelling to the Himalayas and completing the massive trek to Mount Everest Base Camp. I truly never appreciated the work and effort that anyone would have to do to be able to complete this massive task.

Dave has been sleeping in a hypoxic tent for the last 9 weeks! Climbing up and down ladders across his garden and putting massive hours into his fitness at his local fitness centre. I have never seen him looking so fit and healthy and as well as this being a fantastic goal and experience for Dave and daughter number 1 (I bet those others like not being daughter number 1 !!! ) Dave is raising funds for a very worthy cause Prostrate cancer. This is a charity that gets very little press coverage and is one of the most common cancers for men.

He has a Justgiving site where you can find out more about Dave's and Beth's journey. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/DaveW-Everest

We appreciate that there are so many charities out there and all are very worthy. This is fabulous cause and as a Club and a parent of swimmers who have groan ( grown)  to love Dave rather than fear him I would be certain that you would like to support him and Beth in this challenge. Every penny counts so if you can make any donation it would be much appreciated.
