The Otters team put in a sterling performance at todayÆs Liverpool Penguins MacMillan Invitation Gala held at Huyton leisure center.( thanks to all dads that attended too with it being FatherÆs day!)

There were six teams in total including Liverpool Penguins, Bootle & North, Garston, Prescot, and Halton .

The team put in some fantastic relay and individual swims and the competition was fierce. Several swimmers had to really step up the mark when we had an injury in the boys 11/12 age group and they offered their services without hesitation. I would like to thank Adam Jones, Joshua Maitland and Joseph Marshall  for their extra swims and fantastic æcan do approachÆ.

Despite this gala being a friendly gala, there were some excellent races and very tough competitions. In the individual races there were 11 personal best times.

Girls:  Elizabeth McEvilly (9) in her 25 meters breaststroke ,Kathryn McEvilly (12) in her 50 meters freestyle, Rhiannon Pellow (9) in her 25 meters backstroke,  Eleanor Rea (11) 50 meters backstroke and Freya Woods (9) in her 25 meters butterfly.

Boys: Jack Boswell (9) in his 25 meters freestyle,, Adam Jones (12) in 50 meters breaststroke, Adam Scrutton (9) in his 25 meters breaststroke and Shaun Walker (10) in both his 25 meters butterfly and 50 meters freestyle..

However Garston performance was excellent on the day and took away both cannon trophies, for the girls and boys and won the overall gala.

Please note when looking at times, all personal records are updated and team results on members page under æothers galas tabÆ

Please note all 2nd and 4thplaces in relays were shallow end starts with no diving allowed, hence slightly slower times.
Also on swimmers individual times, to see relays you must use the drop down on the left hand side to include relay times.

Final Result 1st Garston 230pts , 2nd  Halton 221pts, 3rd Ormskirk 188 pts, 4th Prescot 174 pts
